Funeral services for Shirley E. Nelson, 76, a resident of Lake Zurich since 1953 will be held on Saturday, November 19th at 10:00am at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. The interment will follow in Windridge Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00pm until 8:00pm Friday at the funeral home.
Shirley was born on August 5, 1935 in Waukegan, IL the daughter of the late Irving and Georgia (Vasey) Townsend and passed away early Tuesday morning November 15, 2011 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.
Shirley was a longtime member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Lake Zurich.
Beloved wife of fifty-eight years of Richard O. Nelson; loving mother of Steve (Sandy), Randy and Terry (Kelly) Nelson; cherished grandmother of Terry O.,Jessica, Cody and Alex Nelson; dear sister of Marjorie (Late Robert) Stevens, Georgia (Harry) Brough, Rosella (Late Robert) Edinger, Irving J. (Beverly) Townsend, Wendell Townsend, Joan Miller, Donald (Eddie) Townsend, Luella (Kenneth) Bishop, Charlotte (Steve) Schaid, Betty (David) Gregory and the late Richard Townsend; sister in law of Barbara Townsend; also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and dear friends.
