Massara, 94, of West Dundee, formerly of Palatine, will be held Monday, June 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine, Illinois 60067. Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine with military honors.

Kenneth was born June 10, 1931, in Omaha, Nebraska, and passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, in Elgin, Illinois.

Kenneth was the beloved husband of the late Jacquelynn R. Massara (née Holmes), his cherished wife of more than 70 years, who preceded him in death on February 15, 2026. He was the loving father of Julie Frost, Stephen Massara, and the late Laura Massara; devoted grandfather of Karina Frost; dear son of the late Francis and Margaret (née Hathaway) Massara; and fond brother of the late Francis Massara, a World War II Veteran, Shirley Massara, Janet Shaw (née Massara), and Alan Massara, a Vietnam War Veteran.

Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Military Policeman during the Korean War with the 62nd Air Police Squadron. He received 4 medals of honor: Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Following his military service, he built a strong work ethic that remained a hallmark of his life. He worked for many years in the airline industry as a Customer Service Agent and Supervisor before becoming Supervisor of Lost and Found and Baggage Services for United Airlines starting at Midway Airport and then opened up O'Hare Field. Dedicated to providing for his family, Kenneth also worked for the United States Postal Service and as a Real Estate Agent. After retirement, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own lost luggage delivery service. Later, he enjoyed working as a hall monitor at Schaumburg High School, where he appreciated being around young people and staying active in the community.

Kenneth was a man of many talents and interests. He was an accomplished poet, writer, and photographer who found beauty in both words and images. A lifelong adventurer, he enjoyed traveling throughout the United States on his motorcycle and took great pride in earning the Iron Butt Award. Wyoming was his favorite state, and he especially loved the beauty and majesty of Yellowstone National Park. He also enjoyed airplanes and maintained a lifelong fascination with aviation. His creative spirit, curiosity, and appreciation for life's adventures enriched both his own life and the lives of those around him.

Above all, Kenneth was devoted to his family. He was a steady presence, a source of wisdom and encouragement, and a man whose love and dedication were evident in everything he did. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, perseverance, sense of humor, and unwavering commitment to those he loved. He was an inspiration to many for surviving an amputation and learning to walk again in his 90s.

The family takes comfort in knowing that Kenneth is now reunited with his beloved Jackie and daughter Laura.
