Graveside Services and Interment for Ludmila Soukhikh, 79, of Round Lake, will be held Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Ascension Cemetery, 1920 Buckley Road, Libertyville, IL 60048.
Ludmila was born February 3, 1947, in Estonia and passed away May 8, 2026, in Lake Forest.
Ludmila was the loving mother of Natalia (Philip) Lawitz; loving grandmother of Andrew, Daniel, Timothy and Katherina; dear daughter of the late Vasilii and Aleksandra (nee Kudrashov) Jakovlev; and fond sister of Vladimir (Marina) Jakovlev.
Ludmila will be remembered for her strength, kindness, positive outlook on life, and her fearless and upbeat personality. People were naturally drawn to her warmth, generosity, and caring spirit. She spent her life taking care of others, and was never a burden to anyone.
She came to America from Estonia with courage, determination, and dreams for a better future. Through hard work and perseverance, she built a loving life centered around family. She deeply loved both her family in the United States and her family in Estonia, and cherished every moment spent with them.
Ludmila enjoyed gardening, old movies, traveling with her daughter and family, and staying involved in the lives of her grandchildren. She proudly attended their sports games, music performances, dance events, and graduations whenever she could.
She always seemed to know exactly what to say or do to support the people she loved. Her wisdom, resilience, unconditional love, and beautiful spirit will be deeply missed, and forever remembered by all who knew her.
