Michael A. Borchek

Visitation for Michael August Borchek, 77, of McHenry, formerly of Chicago, will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, IL, 60047. Interment will be private.

Michael was born April 29, 1949 in Chicago, and passed away May 5, 2026 in McHenry.

Michael was the beloved husband of the late Mary L. Borchek (nee McGarry); loving father of Melissa A. Borchek and Michelle L. Lourenco (nee Borchek); loving grandfather of Bianca, Eric, and Colin; loving great-grandfather of Brantley, Hudson, and Meadow; dear son of the late Michael J. and Joyce (nee Hahn) Borchek; fond brother of Jacqueline A. Disch (nee Borchek) .

Michael, affectionately known as “Mad Dog Mike” during his high school years for his passion for football. He pursued higher education at the University of Virginia, where he studied law. His career took him to Washington, D.C., where he worked for the FBI. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Mary. After his tenure with the FBI, Michael transitioned into a career in electronics.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Michael was a devoted family man who cherished spending time with his loved ones. An avid swimmer, he made it a priority to teach his daughters and grandchildren how to swim. He also enjoyed working on cars and grilling for family gatherings during his downtime. Michael’s adventurous spirit shone through on countless family road trips, where he delighted in planning routes and poring over maps.
