James O. Banks
James Oliver Banks, 82, of Buffalo Grove went home to his heavenly Father on Friday, January 13, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Sharon; his four children, Dawne (Luke) Piotrowski, Cynthina Benzinger, Beverly (Brian) Linning and Brian Banks; his eight grandchildren, Andrew and Timothy Piotrowski, Corinne and Michael Benzinger, and Aubrey, Grace, Noah and Abigail Linning; his sister, Anne (Jerone) Liebrecht; as well as many loving nieces and nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and a caring church community. A graduate of Northwestern University, Jim's career at IBM spanned more than 26 years and he continued his pursuit of learning after his retirement in 1991 by working and taking classes at Oakton Community College. The visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1190 N. Hicks, Palatine, with a viewing at the church for one hour preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church would be appreciated by the family.
