William G. Schwantz

Visitation for William G. Schwantz, 84, a lifelong resident of Palatine, will be from 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. The Interment will be private.

Bill was born in Elgin, IL on March 25, 1940, to Gustav and Flora Schwantz. He passed away at home on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

 A graduate of the original Palatine High School in 1958, Bill was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine and remained a devoted member of Prince of Peace in Palatine.

Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army, where he learned the trade of welding. This skill became a lifelong profession, leading to the ownership of Mobile Welding in Palatine for 55 years. Dedicated to his craft, Bill continued working until retiring at the age of 79.

Despite a strong work ethic, Bill always prioritized family and valued time with loved ones above all else.

Bill was the beloved husband of the late Carol L. Schwantz for 53 years; loving father of James (Brenda) Schwantz, Michael Schwantz, Timothy Schwantz, and Robert (Michelle) Schwantz; and cherished grandfather of Ashlynne (Joe) Weber, Austin (Mattie), Madalyn, Evelyn, and Leo; and dear brother of Flora Nishikawa, Rosie Keller, Jane Glenn, and Nancy Beyer.
