Wayne H. Schroeder

Visitation for Wayne H. Schroeder, 86, of Palatine, will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 3:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home,201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 200 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine. Visitation will begin at 10:00a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00a.m.  You may view the service via webcast on the Immanuel website at immanuelpalatine.org/webcasting.  Interment will follow at Union Cemetery on Greeley Street in Palatine.

Wayne received his crown of glory on Wednesday, February 23rd. Wayne was the beloved husband of Violet (nee Pankonin) Schroeder for more than 67 years.  He was the loving father of Steven (Janis) Schroeder, Jeffrey (Cynthia) Schroeder, Gregory (Kimberly) Schroeder, Annette (Michael) Grogan, Thomas (Paula) Schroeder, Pamela (Paul) Pearson, David Schroeder and Timothy Schroeder; loving grandfather of 22; and loving great-grandfather of 17. He also is survived by his twin sister, Jayne (Clarence) Hagenow.

Wayne was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church & School, in Palatine, where he was baptized (1935), confirmed (1949), graduated (1949) and married (1954).  He also was a lifelong resident of Palatine and a 1953 graduate of Palatine High School.

After graduation, he began a 44-year career as an electrician, retiring in 1997, and, in 2020, was recognized as a 65-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union, Local 134, in Chicago.

At Immanuel, Wayne taught Sunday School for more than 25 years, served on the school board, was a church elder and scout leader, provided leadership on several building and steering committees, offered his laborer skills and knowledge for electrical and construction projects throughout the church and school, and chaired the Union Cemetery Board of Directors for more than 15 years.
