Shirley Ann Marchewka

A Memorial Service for family and close friends of Shirley Ann Marchewka, was held on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral home 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.

Shirley, a loving wife and mother, passed away in her home at the age of 78 on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 5:44 AM.

Shirley was born on December 23, 1940 in Chicago, IL to John and Helen Kapusinski. She was the sister of Linda Greco. On November 19, 1960 she married Robert Marchewka. They raised four children: two sons, Michael and Steven, and two daughters, Jill and Lori. Shirley was also the loving grandmother of six grandchildren; Jake, Zak, Luke, Abby, Casey and Kyle. She was a wonderful Mother-in-law to Mary Marchewka (Michael), Tom Koza (Jill), and Bob Lebre (Lori).

Shirley was involved with her children’s activities and loved to stay busy with her house and yard. Bob and Shirley had quite a knack for decorating and landscaping and they enjoyed fishing together. She was a frequent patron of the local library and loved to read. When she wasn’t reading a mystery novel, she was reading her devotions. She loved to talk about her relationship with God and always wanted to share the Bible with others. Anyone who knew her would say that Shirley had a great smile, laugh and quick wit. She was always quick to complement someone and encourage them. Her grandchildren were incredibly special to her, and she so enjoyed spending time with them and watching them all grow up. She prayed for her whole family daily and was always proud of them.
