Ronald passed unexpectedly on March 10, 2022

Ronald was the beloved father of Jonathan and Kendra Herring; loving brother of Jacqueline M. Penticoff of Freeport; caring uncle of Troy (Lisa) Marcum and family of Bolingbrook and Travis (Amanda) Penticoff and family of Rock Falls.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Gerald & Marie Herring; and several aunts and uncles.

Although Ron was very dedicated to his accounting work, his goofy personality shined through in every interaction; everyone who knew Ron knew that he was a big-hearted, loving, and silly guy. His high-pitched cackle would automatically make you laugh along with him. Ron was an avid Cubs and Packers fan, and when he could get away from his work, he loved going to Cubs games and golf outings (especially his annual trip to Myrtle Beach with his buddies). Ron also loved watching reruns of M.A.S.H and Hogan’s Heroes. He could quote each and every episode.

Visiting long-time friends in Lexington, Kentucky, Ron has attended UK football and softball games, plays at the Opera House, and Kentucky Derbies for almost 40 years. He recently moved there and bought his dream home; he could not wait to throw pool parties for his family and friends.

Ron was also devoted to his children, Jon and Kendra, whether that be watching Hawaii Five-O together on the couch, traveling to softball tournaments, or having hours worth of conversation.
