Ron was born on September 21, 1937, to Nils Henry and Anna Dagmar (Dee) Hogstrom. He passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Northwest Community Hospital.

After graduating from Lane Technical High School, Ron was drafted into the Army at the age of 23 and served at Fort Lee, Virginia, where he and Marilyn were married in June 1962. He was honorably discharged and returned home to Chicago to his former job at Schawkgraphics, where he worked for over 50 years.

Ron enjoyed singing in his Church choir as well as Orphei Swedish singing club in his younger days. He was a 64-year mason, and life member and Past Master (1976) of Pleiades Lodge 478 A.F. & A.M. He was honored as a 50-year member in Pleiades Lodge on March 13, 2009. He faithfully served as Secretary since September 1988. He became editor and printer of the monthly Pleodian newsletter in July 1988. In September 2022 he was elected to Honorary Membership of D. C. Cregier Lodge #0081 in Wheeling. Ron was also a member of the Shriners Fraternal Organization for Men.

Ron enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife, Marilyn, visiting numerous states and dozens of countries around the world on all seven continents. He also enjoyed tending to his backyard koi pond and attempting to grow vegetables of all types in his garden. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren whom he loved so much. He was blessed to be part of their every-day lives, attending scouting events, ball games, drama performances and more on a regular basis. He was also fortunate to travel with his daughter and grandchildren on numerous vacations and enjoyed pizza and game nights often with them and extended family.

Ron was the dearly loved husband of Marilyn Hogstrom for 61 years; loving father of Susan (Wayne) Broski, and the late Elizabeth Ann Hogstrom; devoted grandfather of C.H. Joseph, Grace and Nathaniel Broski.  He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, in the US and Sweden.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph H. Hogstrom.

In lieu of flowers, the family strongly requests memorials be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital Chicago, or the All Saints Lutheran Church of Palatine Food Pantry.
