Roberto Campa

Visitation for Roberto Campa, 83, of Palatine for 57 years, will be held Friday, June 7, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 8:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine.  Inurnment will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.

Roberto was born June 7, 1940 in Durango, Mexico, and passed away May 24, 2024 surrounded by his family at home in Palatine.

Roberto was the beloved husband of Blanca L. Campa (2011); loving father of Maribel Campa (Saul) Mendoza, Anna Maria (Jimmy) Garcia; fond grandfather of Louis, Samuel, Alexander, Jiana, Blanca and Nickolas, dear son of the late Jose and Candelaria Campa; he was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.

Roberto was a quiet man who kept to himself and loved his family very much. When our parents were young, he loved to dance, cumbia, norteña, and tejano music. He was always ready to play a good game of poker, dominoes, go fish and Uno. When he could; he would read stories to his grandchildren and tell them about his youth.

He worked for over 40 years at Methode Electronics, making IBM parts and he never called out a sick day in his life. He was a hard-working man. He finally retired in 2009. 

Our dad loved to be outdoors. He loved to go fishing and he would bring home fish to cook. He was great with the grill, loved cooking for all, carne asada, not to mention his barbeque chicken.

Roberto loved the Chicago Cubs, his favorite team, along with all Chicago sports spending hours cheering for his teams. He would watch them even on encore after the game was over. He was also a huge WWE wrestling fan spending time watching with the family and even remembering the wrestler’s names.

Dad took pride in his lawn and gardening care of our home. Dad was always so loving, strong, and calm and he will truly be missed by his loving family and friends.
