Richard T. Reed

July 26, 1949 — September 21, 2020

Visitation for Richard T. Reed, 71, of Palatine, will be held on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 9:30 am until 12:00pm at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, Palatine.  A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm for close family and friends, also at the funeral home. An Entombment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, Palatine.

Rich was a proud graduate of St. Viator’s High School (‘67) and Southeastern State of Oklahoma (‘71) where he was also a fraternity member of Tau Kappa Epsilon.  He was a national dart champion multiple times amongst his many years in the American Darters Association.  As a passionate and die-hard Chicago sports fan, he loved to watch the Bears and the Cubs.  He took enormous pride in the work and services he provided as the Building and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor during his tenure at St. Thomas of Villanova Church and School.  As a retiree Rich stayed relentlessly busy with home and yard projects, and found great peace being on or near the water, and just being outdoors in general.  Nothing made him happier than opportunities to connect with family, friends and neighbors.  Rich was a devoted partner, an always present father figure, a compassionate brother, loving uncle and whimsical grandpa.

He is survived by the love of his life, Susan Clark and her children, Wendy (Matt), Steve, Tom (Lisa), Amanda (Eric); Siblings, Nancy, Shelia, Judy (Terry) and Jimmy (Darcy); also multiple nieces, nephews and four grandchildren, all of whom gave him great joy.

He is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Margaret Reed.
