Visitation for Richard Anthony Pinelli, 65, a longtime resident of Palatine, Illinois will be held from 8:30a.m. until the time of Prayers at 9:30a.m. Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home 201 N. Northwest Hwy. Palatine. A procession will follow to St. Theresa Catholic Church 455 N. Benton Street, Palatine where a Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:00a.m. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Richard passed away on April 25, 2025.
Richard held a Master’s degrees in both Law and Public Health and dedicated his career to the health insurance industry, where he was known for his expertise in benefits management. His work reflected a rare blend of empathy, technical insight, and sound judgment.
A man of deep faith, Richard was a devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church and actively volunteered at his local parish and in community events throughout the Northwest Chicago area. He also cherished spending quality time with his nieces and nephews.
Richard had a lifelong passion for military history and was a devoted member of the Historical Miniature Wargaming community. His meticulous craftsmanship brought to life miniature figurines and battlefield landscapes that spanned eras from ancient empires to World War II. He found deep joy and lasting friendships in this beloved pursuit.
He is survived by his siblings Madeline Pinelli, Vincent Pinelli (Susan), Mary Mellon (Rodney), Mary Lou DeGeorge-Kelley (Sam), Christina Baldwin (Marvin) and Larry Pinelli; his nieces and nephews Robert Mellon (Stephanie), Lindsey Hamlin (Aljo), Nicole Kucera (Brian), Brian Pinelli (Cassandra), Daniel Pinelli, Anthony “Tony” Pinelli, Marisa Baldwin, Luke Baldwin, Elizabeth Bournoville (Bryan); his great-nieces and nephews Brooke Bournoville, Gabriella Kucera, Audrey Mellon, Zachary Ketzer (Erica and children Parker and Sydney), Aidan Bournoville and Julian Hamlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony R. and Louise D. Pinelli and his brother Anthony “Tony” Pinelli (Karen).
Richard will be remembered for his gentle spirit, devoted faith and unique brilliance. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
