Ray Puccinelli, age 61, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2024, surrounded by beloved family and friends. Ray grew up in a loving home in Des Plaines, IL where he excelled in many things; however, school was not necessarily one of them. He took pride in skipping school and got in all kinds of trouble with many of his lifelong friends from the neighborhood. Ray loved hockey, played goalie, and his uniform proudly displayed his favorite #35 after his idol, Tony Esposito. Ray held various jobs but the one he loved most was appraising homes for the past 30+ years, running his own appraisal company for many years and also working the past 10 years with Metro West/Class Valuation.
Family was everything to Ray and he was married to Karyn, his best friend, and the love of his life for 35 years, fitting that being his lucky number is where it will remain to infinity. His children, Amanda and Dominic were his pride and joy, and he loved everything about being their dad. Ray was also a dad to both kid’s friends, loving them as his own, and bailing everyone out with no questions asked! He supported his children in all their activities, coaching many of their sports teams such as baseball, football, and softball. Ray was always there to cheer them on, wiping their tears, and always giving the best advice. There was nothing that he wouldn’t do for his children.
Ray was an avid Chicago sports fan rooting for the Blackhawks, Bears, and even though he was a White Sox fan, his wife Karyn loved him anyways. He always had a story to tell, and people were captivated by what he had to say. Ray worked extremely hard to support his family and really found his niche in appraising homes. No matter how hard he worked, he always had time to enjoy family and friends, except on Sundays, where he was the king of the recliner chair. Jamaica and Disney World were truly his happy places and in a former life he may have been a Mouseketeer.
Ray loved his family and would always make a point to tell them that he loved and appreciated them with a hug and a kiss. He was proud of his wife and kids and his family and friends will hold dear the many stories he told, even the ones they may have heard multiple times. Ray had a knack for easily making friends and making all friends feel like his best friend.
Ray is the beloved husband of Karyn Puccinelli for 35 years; loving father of Amanda (Curtis Hines) Puccinelli and Dominic (Tania Ponce) Puccinelli; loving son of Irene and the late Ray Sr.; dear brother of Ralph (Sheryl) Puccinelli, and Grace (Steve) LeSeth. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ray’s name to Save-A-Pet.
