Peter M. Kramer

The Funeral Service for Peter Michael Kramer, of Hoffman Estates, will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 12:30p.m. in the sanctuary of the Village Church of Barrington, 1600 E Main St., Barrington, IL 60010. The entrance is at the rear of the building.

Peter was born on March 5, 1955, in Wausau, Wisconsin to Leonard and Marjorie Kramer. He died on November 21, 2023, at Ascension Saint Alexius Hospital after a long period of health issues.

He was previously the husband of Joanna and loving father of Anna. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Karen Klug and Kathleen Schultz, all of Wausau, WI.

Pete served in the US Army Airborne Division from 1975 until 1979. After that he went on to study at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, graduating with a political science degree.

He then joined the Department of State, Washington DC where he served as a special agent with the Diplomatic Security Service. In his long career with the U.S. State Department he traveled the world, to well over 100 countries. He was deployed at embassies and on special assignments to Somalia, United Arab Emirates, Peru, Libya and some African countries. Later in his career he worked with the Chicago State Department in the training of other agents and as a special investigator.

In his youth he enjoyed hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities, and played on the high school football team. Pete was an avid Green Bay Packer supporter and enjoyed playing chess with friends.

He attended the Village Church of Barrington and was a long-time participant in their men’s Saturday Bible Study.

Memorials honoring Pete, may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
