Patricia A. Smith

Visitation for Patricia A. Smith, 72, of Palatine, will be on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 4:00 PM at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. The Interment will be private.

Patty was born on October 9, 1952, to the late Leonard and Eileen Smith. She passed away at home on Friday, April 25, 2025.

Patty was the loving sister of Jerry Smith & wife, Georgeann Lorentz; cherished aunt of Paul Varkuza, Michael Smith, Joseph Smith, Caden Jacobsen, Ellie Keegan, Rachel Jacobsen, Jim Keegan and Teri Keegan. She is also survived by her uncle, John Wedrall; cousins, Laura Stang and Linda Nickerson; childhood friend, Roberta Kerber; and her dear friend, Julie Keegan.

Patty was an avid animal lover, child activist and music enthusiast. She donated to many charities benefiting animals and children over the years. Her love for all things music started young, she was a disc jockey out of high school in the 1970’s and has a collection spanning from the 20’s big band era through today. Her love of KISS ran as deep as her overall love of music. She painted in her spare time, inspired by her best friend’s mom from years past.

She was one to look out for her family and friends above all else; always there to vent to, get advice from, or share a laugh. Oh, her laugh, the most contagious laugh. She was a regular church goer with Julie and was beloved by many in the church community she attended.

She fought hard to be here with us. In that time no matter her struggle turned to God and her family/friends to find strength. She never lost her wit, sarcasm or self during her battle, even in her final days. She is and always has been, strong willed, bold and kind to the core. She will be remembered within our hearts and warm memories that are ever filled with laughter and love.
