A Funeral Mass for Nancy A. Carney, 94, of Palatine will be on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 455 S. Benton Street, Palatine. The Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.

Nancy Carney, a resident of Palatine, Illinois since 1962, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, at the age of 94.

Nancy was born on June 25, 1932, in Riverside, California, to the late Nicholas and Santa Birrittier. She was preceded in death by her beloved brothers, Charlie and Don, and her treasured sister, Mary. In 1952, she married William Carney, Sr., and together they built a life centered around raising their four children. William preceded her in death in 1981.

A smart and exceptionally hard-working woman, Nancy spent many years serving her community through her work at Community Consolidated School District 15. Through her dedication, she held a variety of roles within the district, ultimately retiring as the administrative assistant to the school superintendent.

Above all achievements, Nancy was most proud of the family she built. She was completely devoted to her four children: Bill, Patti, Mike, and Paul. Having never had the opportunity to pursue higher education herself, Nancy made it her life's mission to provide that chance for her children. She took immense pride in seeing them all graduate from college and go on to build successful lives. Her encouragement and unconditional support were the foundations of their success.

Over the past 3 decades, her true joy in life, was found in her role as a grandmother. She was an incredible Nana to her 12 grandchildren and a proud Great-Nana to her 1 great-granddaughter that she delighted in sharing her June 25th birthday with. Nancy was also filled with excitement and anticipation for the arrival of two more great-grandchildren expected next month. Known for her wonderful sense of humor, she filled her family's lives with laughter and countless fun memories. Her grandchildren loved being with her, and her legacy of deep family devotion will live on through them.
