Mary was born February 2, 1942, in Chicago and passed away suddenly on August 16, 2026, in St. Charles leaving behind a life filled with faith, family, love and countless cherished memories.

Mary was a loving and devoted mother to her two sons, Mark (Amy) and Paul (Susan), and nothing brought her greater joy than her family. She was a loving grandmother to her four grandchildren, Grace, Joshua, Maddox, and Justin Black, who held a very special place in her heart. She was always happy to share their talents and accomplishments with others as they have grown into wonderful young adults.

Mary was the dear daughter of the late Earl and Margaret (nee Kelly) Wiedlin. Mary will also be deeply missed by her beloved sister and best friend, Marguerite, as well as her nieces and nephews, Lisa, Scott, Amy, Theresa, Megan, Tim, Christopher, Jennifer and Amy. She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul. The bond she shared with her family was one of love, strength, and lasting devotion.

Mary’s journey through life was marked by a strong commitment to learning and personal growth. She attended Immaculate Conception and St. Eugene grade schools, followed by St. Patrick Academy for Girls, where she completed high school. She continued her education at Wright Junior College for two years and later took several evening classes at DePaul University.

As a young adult, Mary began her working life at DePaul University. Her life took a wonderful turn when she had her two sons and became a stay-at-home mother. She described being a mother as her “Best Job Ever.” Her dedication to raising her children and caring for her family was a source of tremendous pride and happiness throughout her life.

Later in life, Mary returned to the workforce and built a career in the insurance industry, where she worked until her retirement in 2007. She approached each chapter of her life with dedication, determination, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Mary was a woman of deep and unwavering Catholic faith. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided her through both joyful and difficult times. She found comfort and strength in her relationship with God and the Catholic Church. An avid reader, Mary could always be found with a good book in her hands. She also had a special love for crossword puzzles, enjoying the challenge of finding just the right answer. These simple pleasures reflected her curious mind and thoughtful nature.

Though she will be deeply missed, Mary's memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
