Graveside Services for Mary Ann Davis, 97, of Lake Zurich since 1969, were privately held at Windridge Memorial Park Cemetery in Cary, on December 1, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Mary Ann was born February 18, 1924, in Youngstown, Ohio, and passed away November 27, 2021, at home in Lake Zurich.

Mary Ann was the beloved wife of the late Robert L. Davis; loving mother of Andrea Davis, Marcella Davis, Charlene (William) Roach, Roann (Kevin) Byrd and Sarah Davis; loving grandmother of Cody Roach; dear daughter of the late Daniel and Sarah (Jones) Humphreys; fond sister of the late Harold Humphreys, and Kenneth Humphreys.

Mary Ann grew up in Youngstown, OH, where she graduated from high school. She worked for the United States Weather Bureau, during World War II. Following the war, she married her husband, Robert L. Davis. She had 5 daughters and was a devoted wife and mother. She, and the family, moved to multiple cities across, Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois, before moving to Lake Zurich, in 1969.

Mary Ann loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved to travel, go on day trips, play cards, do crossword puzzles, sing, and enjoy delicious desserts. She traveled the country, as a member of the Illinois Starcraft Camping Club. She loved to sing with the Chain-O-Lakes Chorus. Over the years, she was engaged in many aspects of the local community. She was one of the original volunteers for Good Shepherd Hospital and continued to volunteer there into her 80s. She was one of the founders, and President, of the Ela Township Historical Society, and helped coordinate the Ela Township celebration events, for the Bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence. She was a long-time member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, in Lake Zurich, and she loved her church family. Anyone that knew Mary Ann, was touched by her kind and generous heart. She will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.
