Visitation for Mark Anthony Rosanova, 68, of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, and of Chicago, Illinois; will be held Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine, IL 60067. The Visitation will continue Monday, April 20, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 Palatine Road, Inverness, IL 60067. The Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
Mark was born December 13, 1957, in Chicago, to the late Angela Marie and Albert R. Rosanova Sr. M.D. He passed away unexpectedly April 12, 2026 at his home in Florida.
Mark graduated from the Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire at the top of his class, and at age 18 was accepted directly into the Northwestern University Medical School honors program. After medical school, Mark completed an Ophthalmology residency at Northwestern, and a fellowship in cataract surgery at the University of Kentucky. While there, he became an associate professor. Mark returned to private practice as a premier ophthalmic surgeon in Chicago and in Florida.
Mark will be remembered for his love of travel, good food, and dogs. He could be counted on bringing delicious pastries to gatherings. As the youngest of his four brothers and sister, Mark traveled with family at a young age on cruises and trips to Europe. This established his later love for air travel, and cruising. As a young man, Mark‘s travels included boating up the Amazon, hiking in Peru, and competing in yacht races. He served as a crew member on one team that won the Mackinac race. He also became a skilled golfer.
Mark was a good listener and a great storyteller. He enjoyed his conversations with friends and family and was generous with his time and thoughtful gifts.
Mark was the beloved brother of Mary Ann Rosanova-Kaper, M.D., David (Mary Louise) Rosanova, Michael Rosanova, J.D., and the late Jerome B. Rosanova and Albert R. Rosanova Jr., M.D., dear uncle of 12 and fond great-uncle of 18; and sincere great-grand-uncle of 2.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in memory of Mark may be made to the Joseph and Grace DeStevens Memorial Lecture at Northwestern Medical School.
