Lucy passed away peacefully on February 11, 2022. She was born on May 23, 1931 in Montreal, Canada, to Peter McNally and Helen Rita (Almond).

On February 10, 1943, while residing at St. Martin’s Convent, Cascade, Iowa, (Sister Mary Helen Petrine), she became a United States citizen. She also attained her dream of becoming a teacher and taught throughout the Chicago area for the Archdiocese of Chicago as a Sister of Charity of the BVM and as a lay teacher. After teaching for many years at Immaculate Conception School, Chicago and at Queen of the Rosary School, Elk Grove, she retired and enjoyed life in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

Lucy devoted her life to caring for others, especially young children.  She was always high energy, willing to tease and joke, but her secret was that she always made others feel, seen, cared about and paid attention to, students, family and friends alike.  Her big and generous heart was a striking contrast to her diminutive appearance.  She was beloved by all who knew her.

Lucy is survived by David (Sheri) Yeats, Robert (Helen Howard) Yeats, Steve Rose, Michael (Debbie) Yeats, Mark (Mary Beth) McNally, Peter (Stephanie) McNally, Tim (Diane) McNally, Patrick (Maryann) McNally, Lucy (George) Quinn, Dennis (Andrea) McNally and Joanne (Tim) Kurz, along with 33 great nieces and nephews and many great-great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents Peter and Helen, her dear siblings Margaret Yeats, Elizabeth Wozny and Alice Scoma, Thomas McNally and Edward McNally; Also, her dear brothers-in-law David Yeats, Thomas Scoma, Arthur Wozny; sisters-in-law Lila Yeager McNally and Dorothy Yeager McNally, niece Elizabeth Yeats, and nephews Daniel McNally and Ronald Wozny.
