Visitation for Lois J. Allen (nee Hamelin), formerly Muldowney, 82, of Palatine, will be from 1:00p.m. to 6:00p.m., Sunday, January 23, 2022, at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.  Family and Friends will meet directly at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 Palatine Road, Inverness, on Monday, January 24, 2022, at 10:30a.m., for the Funeral Mass. If you are unable to attend the funeral mass, it will be live streamed. Please visit Holy Family’s website at: www.holyfamilyparish.org, (Scroll down and click on the red rectangle “Funerals & Weddings Stream”) The Interment will be private at a later date.

Lois was born on December 22, 1939, in Chicago, IL.  She passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022.

Lois is survived by her loving husband, James D. Allen; sons, Gavin T. (Michelle) Muldowney and Brett C. (Kim) Muldowney; stepson, Jeffrey D. (Anna) Allen; plus, her cherished grandchildren, Molly Muldowney, Dylan Muldowney, Taylor Allen and Brandon Allen; and her brother, Richard Hamelin. Additionally, she leaves behind many deeply loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorraine L. (nee Devlin) and Jerome G. Hamelin; her sister, Gail (Don) Rush, and her brother, Robert.

Besides raising her two sons, Lois spent her career in sales and sales management, primarily in advertising sales in Chicago.  In retirement, she was quite active in the Northwest Circle of Friends and the South Barrington Garden Club; she was also a crafter and a Stampin’ Up demonstrator.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in memory of Lois would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
