Lois R. Guderley

Lois Roberta (Christell) Guderley, devoted wife to George W. Guderley Jr. and loving mother to Susan and George, passed away in McHenry, IL, on May 9, 2024, at the age of 98.

She was born in Chicago on July 10, 1925, to John Phillip and Jennie Christell; she had one sister, Phyllis (Christell) Pearson. She attended both North Park Academy (university high school) and North Park College, ultimately earning an associate degree. A life-long learner, she later earned a para-legal certificate from Harper Community College. She also had a deep creative streak which she expressed through sketching, sewing, and gardening.

Lois made time to contribute to her community through church and local organizations, including volunteering as an ESL tutor. She was a devoted and loving grandmother to her four grandchildren, Paul Layer, Catherine Layer, Steven Guderley, and Philip Guderley.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, sister and husband and is survived by her son, George Guderley III and his wife, Laura (Moats), daughter, Susan Guderley and her husband, Peter Layer; and her four grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 11:00a.m. at Fort Sheridan National Cemetery, Vattman Road, Lake Forest, IL, followed by a luncheon at Biaggi's Ristorante Italiano, Town Center, 20560 N Rand Road, Deer Park, IL at approximately noon. Family and friends are welcome.
