Palatine

A Memorial Mass for Leonard F. Mazurowski, 81, of Palatine since 1976, will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 10:00am at St Theresa Catholic Church, 455 N Benton Street, Palatine. The Interment will be private.

Leonard was the beloved husband of Diane Mazurowski; dear son of the late Louis and Irene Mazurowski; loving father of Kris Mazurowski and his wife Joeal, and Erica Speer and her husband Mark; loving grandfather of Blake, Kirk, Jack and Kaleb; step grandfather of Matthew and Michael; and loving brother of Dolores Mazurowski.

Len grew up in Chicago around the Humble Park area where he hung around with friends for hours. He went to Tuley High School and worked in a Jewish Deli. He attended the University of Illinois for one year and graduated from Roosevelt College in Chicago with an Accounting degree. He went on to further earn his master’s degree in accounting at Roosevelt College and eventually earned his CPA. While at college he was treasurer of his fraternity and joined the National Guard at the Chicago Armory. He was federalized and out in 5 years.

Len was married to his wife Diane for 56 years and had two wonderful children, Kris (son) and Erica (daughter). Len was very involved in his kids’ activities and enjoyed one of Diane’s favorite activities, horseback riding.

Len worked at International Mineral and Chemical Corp (IMC) for 31 years as a financial analyst. He enjoyed playing in the IMC golf league for 40 years.

Len always enjoyed helping others. He picked up food at grocery stores and delivered them to the Willow Creek Community Church food pantry. He joined Kiwanis of Palatine and was president for four years, treasurer for 16 years, Lieutenant governor for one year, and a member for many more. He was also a judge during elections for 20 years. After retiring Len started up his own company “Handyman Specialist” doing jobs such as painting, electrical, landscaping, and building decks. He also did tax returns for clients for 40 years to help pay for his fishing trips he took throughout his life with his fishing buddies.

His hobbies included fishing, golfing, horseback riding, bowling, cooking, traveling with friends, boating in Lake Geneva, gardening, and most of all, spending time with his family.

His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and others he has touched. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way his life was lived and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was my rock!! I loved him so much!

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kiwanis International or the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
