Kathy was born on October 10, 1943 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Fredrick and Marie Simon (nee Kempfer) and passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021.  She was the beloved wife of 46 years to the late Charles J. Heeg; loving mother of Charles J. (Lucy) Heeg II, Arlington Heights, IL; Chris Heeg (Sam Toman), Downers Grove, IL; Kara (Tim) Gates, Randolph, MN; cherished grandmother of Anthony Heeg, Gunnar Gates (Katie Schreyer), Gavin Gates, and Gracelyn Gates; beloved sister of Barb (Harry) Perkins, Tinley Park, IL; dear aunt of Wendy (Scott) DeBell, York, PA; Tony (Megan) Perkins, Auburn, WA; dear great-aunt of Drew Ginnever, Matthew DeBell, and Katie DeBell; and many other loving family members and friends.

Kathy was a fun-loving person with a love for the simple things in life.  She was a kid at heart who loved vanilla ice cream, 4th of July, coloring, puzzles and opening Christmas presents.  She was never an arm’s length away from her chocolate and she would get giddy like a child every time she saw a snowflake falling from the sky.  She loved getting her hair done so much so she mastered some great trickery just to ensure someone would get her there. She loved gardening and took such pride in her green thumb.  Her crafting skills were amazing; so much so, you knew exactly when to get out of her way and let her feed her addiction.  The problem reared its head when she started taking things from our houses claiming she could duplicate them and would return them when finished.  Most of those items we never saw again.  We cannot forget her love of gambling; whether it be a trip to the casino, a stack of scratch off lottery tickets she would work on for hours, or her “Win for Life” publisher’s clearing house entries she would get EVERYDAY.  However, one of her most favorite quirks we all endured was her absolute love for watching reruns of “Murder She Wrote” day after day after day.  She must have watched each episode at least 20 times and she still claimed that she did not remember how some episodes ended.  The theme song became Gracie’s bedtime lullaby.

She was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend and will be missed dearly.
