A Memorial Visitation for John W. Laws, 85, of Inverness, formerly of Oak Park, IL , will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 12:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine.  A private family Inurnment will be held in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Palatine.

John was born October 4, 1935 in Huntingdon, Tennessee, and passed away June 12, 2021 in Park Ridge, Illinois.

John was the beloved husband of Shelby J. Laws (nee Sellers); loving father of Debra (Sam) Azzaretto and Lorrie (Dennis) James; loving grandfather of Stephanie (JR) Azzaretto-Sanchez, Michael (Michelle) Azzaretto, Benjamin James, Christopher James and the late Matthew James; dear son of the late Goethe and Sophie (nee Crider) Laws; fond brother of Evola (late Robert) Thompson, Juanita (Thomas) Mc Cord, Joseph (Venita) Laws and the late Doye (late Albie) Simmons, late Homer (late Donie) Laws, late Irene (late Jimmy) Rodgers, late Odell (Opal) Laws, late Dorothy (late John) Sanders, late Waldon (late Dorothy) Laws, and late Wilburn (Francis) Laws.

John was an avid fisherman and traveled with his wife, Shelby, of 65 years. He was employed for 43 years with Goodyear Corp.  Along with his love of fishing, he enjoyed gardening, being outside, and spending time with his family.  John never met a stranger.  When he called you a friend, you were his friend for life.
