John S. Filantres

Visitation for John Sam Filantres, 92, of Lake Zurich since 1958, will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. The Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights.

John was born April 4, 1931, in Chicago, and passed away, September 1, 2023, in Long Grove.

John served in the United States Army, stationed in San Francisco California 1953-1957.

He was employed as a Tile Setter and Carpet installer for 32 years. John enjoyed Wood Working, Hunting/Fishing.

John was the beloved husband of the late Elfrieda Filantres (nee Moeller); loving father of Lucinda A. (Donald) Goebel and John W. (Joan) Filantres; grandfather of Elizabeth (Eithan) McDonald, Brent (Erin) Goebel, Christopher (Jamie) Goebel, Nicholas (Autumn) Filantres, Adam (Nicole) Filantres, John J (Maureen) Filantres; great-grandfather of 18; great great-grandfather of 4; dear son of the late John Gus Filantres and Rose (nee: Bieda) Filantres; fond brother of Helen (Bob) Burris, Georgine (Bob) Runge, Tina (Bob) Dziadula and the late Gus (Cindy) Filantres.
