James N. Drumm

June 27, 1939 — September 1, 2020

Visitation for James N. Drumm, 81, of Palatine, will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020 from 1:00 PM until the time of the Memorial Service at 5:00 PM at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.  The Interment will be private.

He was born on June 27, 1939 in Chicago, IL and passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 in Hoffman Estates.

Jim’s love of sports was clear to anyone who knew him. He could often be found playing golf, tennis, bowling or playing football with his family in the Annual Turkey bowl. He was a beloved coach to many, and made time to be the coach for all of his daughters in basketball when they were growing up.  He was proud of making a hole-in-one at Nickol Knolls golf club, and golfing at St. Andrews in Scotland.  He spent most of his career working with computers, and would often create programs for family and friends.  Those who had the pleasure of working with him at Century Tile, H&R Block and even substitute teaching at Winston Park most certainly enjoyed themselves. His friends know his love of Fannie Mae chocolates, Bacardi Drumm-n-Coke’s, Chicago White Sox, Bears and Bulls.  You could not find a better left hander to do your taxes or make you the best Pina Coladas.

James is the beloved husband of Rosemary (nee McGinnis); father of Diane (Matt Hellard), Michelle (Mike Anderson), Heather (Josh Severson), Linda (Scott Henning), and Laura (Kim Hefner).  He was brother to Diane Caruso, Marjorie Bowker, Lauretta Parker, Lynn Rice, Bud Drumm, and Mike Drumm. Great friend to Tommy and brother in law to Tricia Kirkpatrick. The best uncle to Maureen & Mike Kirkpatrick, and many other nieces and nephews in his large immediate family. His fun company, great toasts, sage advice, and sense of humor will be missed by all but live on through his grandkids Keefer, Graham, Sadie, Elyse, Keira, Devon, Aubree, Joey, Cameron, and Natalie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123
