Jack A. Kull

Visitation for Jack A. Kull, age 96, will be held at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, on Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 3:00p.m. to 7:00p.m.  A Funeral Mass will be said at 10:00a.m., Monday, September 25, 2017 at St. Colette Catholic Church, Rolling Meadows, followed by an Interment at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine.

Jack passed away on September 20, 2017.

Born in Ashland, WI, Jack was an accomplished musician playing trumpet, tenor saxophone, and trombone. He began playing professionally at age 13 and had his own band by 15. Jack attended Northland College, Ashland, WI, majoring in Music and Business, playing college football and hockey, performing in their orchestra, his band, and falling in love with fellow classmate Lorraine (Lori) Tourville of Washburn, WI.

Jack served with the 5th Army Corp 1942 – 1946, in charge of a German prisoner of war camp in Columbia, South Carolina, played in the 5th Army Band, and had his own dance band.

After the war, Jack and Lorraine moved to the Chicagoland area, where he was employed by IG Grawig Assoc. as Director of Purchases for their 13 diversified corporations. He then joined Cook Electric C. as Wirecom Division Manager, obtaining government contracts. In 1954 Jack decided to start his own manufacturing representative business named Jalor Co. for which he was CEO until he retired at age 85.

Jack was a natural athlete who enjoyed skiing, tennis, racket and handball, golf, and dancing with his wife. Jack had a Commercial Pilot’s License, a membership to River Forest Country Club since 1968, a Charter Member of Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, St. John Brebeuf Catholic Church, Niles, IL, and was an usher/supporter of St. Colette Catholic Church, Rolling Meadows, IL.

Jack’s proudest accomplishments were his marriage to his beloved wife Lori of 67 years, the raising and education of his children and their families, and creating a successful business that provided wonderful family opportunities.

Jack will be remembered for his honesty, integrity, his devotion to his family’s well being, his unwavering faith, his incredible abilities in math, design, and problem solving, his love for telling jokes, and his zest for life.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents Alfred J and Lydia (Gunschevich) Kull, brother Cleon, sisters Violet, Rose, Daisy, and Lille, and his beloved wife Lorraine.

He is survived by his cherished daughters Barbara A. Kull, and Terri K. Scheid, his devoted grandchildren Michelle L. (Christopher) Meyer, Charles F. Scheid IV (Lisa Currier), great-granddaughter Adelaide L. Meyer, and great-grand dogs Lady and Rusty.
