Harry E. Horner, O.D.

Visitation for Harry Eugene “Gene” Horner, O.D. will be held Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM at Saint Philip’s Episcopal Church, 342 East Wood Street, Palatine.  The memorial service will immediately follow, beginning at 11:30 AM.  Interment of his ashes and those of his wife, Jeannette Lally Vollman Horner, will be done later this summer at the Horner Cemetery in Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Horner was born in Paint Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania on October 12, 1925. He died in Buffalo Grove on August 28, 2020.  He served as a Hospital Apprentice in the Navy from January of 1944 to June of 1946.  In 1948 he graduated from the Monroe College of Optometry and married Jeannette Vollman. They resided in Round Lake Beach from 1951 to 2017 before moving to Buffalo Grove.  They were married for 70½ years.  Dr. Horner practiced optometry in the Round Lake Area for 40 years.
