Fred P. Hegland

Visitation for Fred Paul Hegland, 61, of Lake Zurich, will be held Friday, September 9, 2016 from 4:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine.  A Funeral Mass will be said Saturday, September 10, 2016, 10:30a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Rd., Lake Zurich.

Fred passed away September 4, 2016, at Journeycare Hospice, Barrington.  He was born in Chicago on November 14, 1954, to Marie and Randolph Hegland.

An accomplished mechanical engineer, Fred was named on 5 patents during his many years with Bell & Howell.  He had a love of all things musical and a passion for playing his guitars.  He will be missed by a large and varied circle of friends and family with whom he enjoyed all that life had to offer.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years Anne (nee Lawlor), son Sean, daughter Jessica, father Randy Hegland, brothers, Tom (Rita), Ralph (Gayle), and Randy (Cindy), sister Laura (John) Wohlfiel, and many cherished nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.  He was preceded in death by his mother Marie.
