Florence M. Ross

December 17, 1931 — May 29, 2020

Services for Florence Marie Ross, 88, of Macon, will be private due to the Covid19 Pandemic. The Interment will take place at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Elmhurst.

Florence was born December 17, 1931 in Beardstown, IL., and passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020 at the Eastern Star Home.

She lived most of her adult life in the City of Chicago. She and Richard met while roller skating, one of their favorite pastimes. They lived, worked and raised their children in various neighborhoods on the North side of Chicago.

We will miss her beaming smile every time we met. She loved playing silly games with the grandkids.and her sweets and candies, especially Reese’s chocolate peanut butter cups. It’s the little things that we will miss the most.

She was active for many years with the Salvation Army, ringing the bell and working at the local Salvation Army located in Wrigleyville. Florence was a caring person who faithfully visited family and friends who lived alone, were in nursing homes or in the hospital.

As her health declined, she moved in with Rick & Jan and later became a resident of the Eastern Star Home in Macon where she was lovingly cared for in her final years. She will be dearly missed.

Loving mother of Rick (Jan) Ross and Michael Ross. Cherished grandmother of Diana, Rebecca, Justin, Jenna, Heather and Mike. Loving sister of Lorraine Fitzgerald.

She is preceded in death by husband, Richard, parents, Thomas and Samantha Birdsell, and sister, Betty Van Horn.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated, in Florence’s memory, to the Eastern Star Home in Macon, IL.
