Edna M. Poduch

Visitation for Edna M. Poduch (nee Kamienowski), of Palatine, will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.  A Funeral Mass will be said on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 465 N. Benton Street, Palatine. The Interment will be private.

Edna was born on July 18, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY and passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2023, in Arlington Heights, IL.

Edna was truly loved by all.  She “never met a stranger,” and her Brooklyn accent and huge smile made her memorable.  Edna attended Catholic elementary and high school in Brooklyn, NY before working as an administrative assistant on Wall Street in Manhattan for several years.  She was a stay-at-home-mom for many years at their family home in Queens, NY.  Edna and her family moved to Palatine in 1983.  To re-enter the workforce, Edna attended an office skills certification program at Harper Community College.  She then had a successful second career as an executive assistant at Clean Air Engineering in Palatine and later in the first e-commerce department at Walgreens Corporate Headquarters in Deerfield.  In retirement, Edna was very active in the Palatine Welcome Wagon extension – Northwest Circle of Friends, where she led several committees and held offices, including President.  Edna loved flowers of any kind and the ocean, and she prized her biennial family trips to Myrtle Beach.  She considered her wonderful family to be her largest achievement.

Edna was the loving wife of Robert; mother of Susan (Kevin), Robert Jr. (Susan), and Thomas (Amy); and grandmother of Samuel, Maxwell, Grace, Benjamin, Morgan, and Brady.  She is preceded in death by her brother, Ted Jr., and her parents, Ted and Helen.
