Dr. Gianfranco Farruggia

Visitation for Dr. Gianfranco Farruggia, formerly of Palatine, will be from 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy, Palatine, IL.  The Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, Palatine.

Dr. Farruggia was born in Italy on May 31, 1953 to Salvatore and Noris Farruggia, they preceded him in death.   He passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023.

Dr. Farruggia lived a spectacular life of service.  He founded Community Human Services, Inc.  in 1979 and provided ongoing support to the organization.   The goal of the organization continues to be that of assisting clients to become productive and effective members of society.

Dr. Farruggia was a professor of Non-Profit Management at North Park University.  He was loved by both faculty and students and was in his glory being a part of that community for 20 years.  He was both the Editor in Chief for Third Sector Publications and Kendal College for 11 years. He also taught  at  DePaul University for 3 years teaching various  courses in the school of public service.

Dr. Farrugia was a co- founder and VP of Affirmative Industries of Chicago from 1991 until 2003, successfully providing work opportunities to disadvantaged Chicagoans.

He loved serving his community and being Mora’s Papa. Dr. Farruggia is loved and was loved by all that knew him.  Dr. Farruggia will be missed immensely.

Dr. Farruggia is survived by his daughter, Mora Farruggia; wife, Debbie Hudson; brother, Robert Farruggia; family from Italy, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.
