Don always had a smile on his face and made a friend everywhere he went. He was a proud family man who loved his wife children and grandchildren immensely. His love for farming started at an early age raising many farm animals at his farm in Lake Zurich. In 1992, Don & Darlene founded the Lake County Farm Heritage Association with the goal of preserving farm history in Lake County, IL. Over the course of 25+ years, the program became a well-attended family event and many people looked forward to it every year. At the show, Don loved interacting with every person who stepped up to his rope maker. As President for many years, he was involved in every aspect of making sure the show ran smoothly.

In 2000, Don & Darlene moved to Plymouth, WI and rebuilt an 1851 log cabin where they enjoyed beekeeping and gardening. In 2018, they moved back to IL to be closer to their family. Don spent his last years being a member of his beloved club and spending time with his friends and loved ones.

Don was an extremely casual person. In celebration of his life please wear casual, comfortable and happy color clothing.
