Dennis was born June 14, 1942, in Chicago, and passed away, January 9, 2026, in Buffalo Grove.
Dennis was the beloved husband of Mary (nee: Cameron); loving father of Robert (Giselle) Hanson and John (Ann) Hanson and the late Patricia Hanson; loving grandfather of Abigail, John, Sierra, Mia, Lila, and Hunter; dear son of the late Harry and Grace (nee: Ryan) Hanson.
Dennis was a long proud palatine resident. He was an instrumental part of the palatine community. He was an outstanding baseball coach to so many. Not only was Dennis the founder and first president of Palatine Baseball Association but he was also a coach for Palatine Boys Baseball for many years. He was an elected Palatine park board member for 18 years (from 1983-2001). He was the genesis of the palatine park district volunteer recognition luncheon which started with 20 people and has annually grown to 150 attendees. Dennis was a trustee on the NWSLS (Northwest Special Leisure Services) foundation and was also on the fundraising board for NWSRA (Northwest Special Recreation Association). He was a very proud grandfather of a special Olympian. Dennis was also a major financial supporter of NWSRA. In the summer, you could find Dennis at Palatine Hills in the morning golfing and at the pool in the afternoon with all his grandkids. His biggest pleasure was taking his grandkids to Disney World each year. Dennis Hanson was a husband, father figure, mentor, coach and friend to so many and was also a wonderful grandfather as well.
