Visitation for Dennis W. Andrews, 74, of Cary, will be on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy, Palatine. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the funeral home. The Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
Dennis was born on June 1, 1951, to Donald and Rita Andrews. He passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
Born and raised in Chicago, Dennis graduated from Prosser High School before pursuing a distinguished career in law enforcement. In 1984, he joined the Police Academy and steadily advanced through the ranks. His dedication and leadership led to his role as Assistant Executive Director for the Cook County Correctional Department, where he served with distinction until his retirement in 2011.
Dennis was the proud father of three daughters, whom he raised with love and devotion. He was deeply loved by those who knew him and found immense joy in spending time with his family. A proud supporter of American Indian causes, Dennis embraced his Cherokee heritage and worked to honor it throughout his life.
An avid Chicago Bears fan, Dennis delighted in cheering on his favorite team. He also enjoyed traveling and creating cherished memories during family vacations. His beloved dogs, Snoopy and Raven, held a special place in his heart.
Dennis the loving husband of the late Holly Andrews; beloved father of Andrea (Robert) Lange, Cheryl (Hector) Quinones, Tiffany (the late Michael) Larsen; cherished grandfather of Jeremiah Quinones, Christian (Anna) Quinones, Rebekah (Adrian) Alvarez, Trevor Lange, Alyssa (Luke Huber) Rivera, Jazlynn (Josh Davison) Rivera, Malachi Quinones, Josiah Rivera, Noah Quinones; dear great-grandfather of 8; fond brother of Dawn (Gerald) Morgan, Janice Lovett, and Carol (the late Jim) Fox. He is also survived by his step-children, Kendra (Daniel) Robinson, Robert Riehle Jr, Erik (Emily) Riehle, Dennis (Jayme) Riehle; and his numerous step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter’s mother, Brenda Andrews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for his recent medical expenses.
