Darald A. Donnell, 71, of Long Grove, died peacefully at home on Sunday, May 19, 2024. He was born on April 20, 1953, to the late Albert and Maria Enriqueta Donnell in Odessa, Texas.
Darald started as a bilingual teacher in Dist. 54 Schaumburg, IL, where he helped many children learn English. During this time, he also taught for Harper College at Arlington Park Racetrack. His philosophy of teaching was to teach survival English first. No surprise that attendance in his adult class improved as he taught how to ask a lady on a date or order a beer! It was during this time that he met his wife, Anne.
Darald left teaching for International Business and worked at Pettibone, Portec, and Barber-Greene in the heavy construction industry. Having a territory that extended to everything south of the Rio Grande and the Caribbean, his personality and love of life led him to make many lifelong friends. After that he became part of NutraSweet in the first 100 employees. He helped develop the Latin American market. His fluency in Spanish, French and Portuguese gave him an edge at connecting with people. Anne and Darald were able to travel extensively and have enjoyed the memories of their adventures.
Darald then went on to establish the LifeSmart Nutrition Company and Logical Technologies Int, a consulting firm. His knowledge of the industry had him sought out for helping many other companies. As a lifelong martial arts lover, he was a third-degree black belt in karate. In later years, he was a valued member of the South Lake County Regional Community Emergency Response Team. Giving back to and being part of the community was a priority for him.
Darald was the loving husband of Anne Donnell of forty-six years; cherished father of Marvin (Natalie) Donnell; Bradley Donnell; and beloved grandfather of Payton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Queta Donnell.
He is survived by a sister, Yolanda Donnell, and many loving in-laws and lifelong friends.
A Celebration of Life for Darald will be announced soon.
