Daniel J. Schmid

Daniel John Schmid, 70, of Lake Zurich, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026. Dan was born in Chicago on August 8, 1955, to the late John and Geraldine (née Arendt) Schmid. Funeral Services and Interment will be held privately by the family.

Dan grew up in Morton Grove and attended Maine East High School and DeVry University. He went on to enjoy a long and successful career as an electronics engineer. In his youth, Dan was an avid baseball and basketball player, and throughout his life he remained a devoted Chicago Cubs fan, attending many games over the years.

Dan found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time with his family, tending to his backyard garden, and working on his beloved Mustang and Oldsmobile. He had a natural gift for helping others and was always ready to lend a hand, greeting everyone with a warm smile. He was a dedicated and supportive father, actively involved in his children’s sports and hobbies, and took immense pride in all they accomplished. Above all, his greatest joy was his family.

Dan was the beloved husband of Patricia for over 35 years; loving father of Stephanie (Ryan) and Eric; and cherished companion to his cat, Bella. He was also a dear cousin and a loyal friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
