Carol Ann (Emerick) Delano, age 89, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, in Arlington Heights, IL. Born November 22, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Grace and James Emerick of Chicago.

Carol graduated from Nazareth College in Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition then went on to earn her Masters degree in Speech Therapy from Loyola University in Chicago, IL. She taught Speech Therapy at Queen of the Rosary Catholic School in Elk Grove Village, IL. She also built a successful trucking company with her husband and family.

Carol met her loving husband of 67 years, Leon M. Delano, Jr. after being introduced to him by their lifelong friends Diane and Joe Desmond of Nahant, MA.

Carol loved boating, traveling and entertaining friends, family, and her Irish ways. Even after retirement, Carol an avid learner, never stopped the pursuit of knowledge.

Carol (nickname "La") is survived by her husband, Leon M. Delano, Jr.; their children, Leon, III (Lisa), Mary Carol, Dan (Shelly) and Martin. She was Gigi to her grandchildren, Alexandria, Courtney (Dan), Patrick (Kostadina), Danny, Thomas (Morgan), Mark (Jenna) and Madeline (Jacob); and her five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Ellen Kordas (Joe).

There will be a private celebration of Carol's life for family. She will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nahant, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Queen of the Rosary Catholic School in Elk Grove Village, IL or St. James Catholic Church in Arlington Heights, IL are greatly appreciated.
