Carol Ann Jones

November 2, 1942 — April 16, 2021

Visitation for Carol Ann Jones (nee Czys), 78, of Hawthorn Woods, will be held Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. The Committal Service will be held the following day, Thursday, April 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Adalbert Cemetery Chapel, Niles.

Carol was born November 2, 1942 in Chicago, and passed away April 16, 2021, at home, with her husband by her side.

Carol was the beloved wife of Danny W. Jones; dear daughter of the late Albert and Estelle (nee Augustyn) Czys; fond sister of Mary Ann (Patrick) Edwards; best friend to sister-in-law, Paula Hoffman; dear sister-in-law of Jimmie (Janet) Jones; doting aunt of Anna (Christopher Crowl) Edwards, Carolyn (Amanda Macaluso) Edwards, Bryon (the late Shawnna) Hoffman, Ben Hoffman, Shannon (Charlie) Jones and Jeremy Jones.

Upon graduation from Immaculata High School, she attended Loyola University in Chicago for two years before graduating cum laude from National College of Education.

She then taught elementary school in Mt. Prospect for two years before switching to a career in banking that lasted for 40 years starting at the Northern Trust in Chicago and then returning to get her MBA from Northwestern University in 1980.

She married Dan in 1975 at the chapel at Northwestern, and they moved to Bettendorf, IA, returning to Chicago two years later and resuming her career at the Northern Trust.  In 1984, Dan’s job took them to Philadelphia, PA where she worked for Fidelity Bank and then Pennsylvania Trust Co., where she arose to the position of V.P. of Trust Administration.  In 2005, she and Dan retired to Chicago where she returned to work for The Northern Trust Bank for the third time.

More recently, Carol made new friends at Talbot’s in Lincolnshire, where she had a part time job and took great advantage of the employee discount.  Upon her final retirement she supervised Dan’s burgeoning golf career at Hawthorn Woods Country Club.

For those who knew her well, Carol was the greatest loyal friend, and always interested in you with an unrivalled sense of wrong and right. She had one of the greatest laughs in the western world and loved a good political discussion. She devoured two or three newspapers a day and rued those who formed their opinions without the facts-no fake news for her as she knew the real thing.

She will be missed by her friends and families, but never forgotten.
