Bette was born February 23, 1934 in Chicago, and passed away November 26, 2021 in Arlington Heights.

Bette was the beloved wife of the late George C. Rubschlager; loving mother of Karen Baker and Matthew (Angie) Rubschlager; loving grandmother of Sarah Baker; daughter of the late Arno and Evelyn Beck.

Bette loved helping children learn and prior to her career as a Program Assistant to the teachers for the local school district, where she worked for 26 years, she participated as a Sunday School teacher at Immanuel Lutheran church in Palatine.  She had an unparalleled enthusiasm for working with young children and was able to connect with them at their level.

Beyond teaching, Bette spent years attending Harper Community college, obtaining her Associate in Arts degree.  After having obtained the degree, she continued taking courses to further her knowledge.  Later, she took classes at Northeastern Illinois University with the goal of a Bachelor in Arts degree.

Bette also had a deep empathy for animals in need and never passed up an opportunity to help with donations.  This love of animals included a number of dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, and a chameleon over the years — if only to foster this love among her children.  She’d often reminisce about time spent on a relative’s farm as a child.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of the United States.
