Bernard S. Mastandrea

Visitation for Bernard S. Mastandrea, 90, of Buffalo Grove, will be from 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM, with a Firefighter Walk Through at 6:00p.m., on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, IL. Visitation will continue on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Ben was born on April 11, 1935, to Steve and Jenny Mastandrea. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, December 13, 2025.

Ben was a veteran of the US Army. Professionally, he served as a Firefighter for the Skokie Fire Department from 1960 until his retirement in 1995.

Ben will be remembered for his contribution of being a primary advisor for the creation of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department.

Ben was the beloved husband of Janis Mastandrea for 52 years; loving father of Linda Morris, the late John Mastandrea, Debbie (Mark) Dalton, Steven (Aviva) Mastandrea; fond grandfather of Brad (Lori Livas) Morris, and Shawn Mastandrea; cherished great-grandfather of Emma; dear brother of the late Grace, the late Peter, the late Rose, the late Vince, the late Mike, Anna (Jerry), the late Stella, the late Nick (Liz), and Gen (Terry). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
