Barbara was born October 8, 1957 in Chicago, and passed away January 25, 2022 in Elgin.

Barbara was the beloved wife of Charles M. Tyk; loving mother of the late Taylor Eggert; dear daughter of Robert and the late Frances (nee Braught) Russell; fond sister of Nancy (Richard) Linden, Scott (Deborah) Russell, Greg (Nancy) Russell.

As a child Barbara excelled as a student and as an athlete.  She was a competitive figure skater (performed in the Ice Follies) and competed on the High School Tennis Team.  Even as a child she loved animals, especially dogs and throughout her life rescued and adopted many.  Education was always important to Barb, she graduated from Barrington High School in 1975, earned a Bachelors degree from Drake University, an MBA from Indiana University and finally a Masters in Special Education from Roosevelt University.  She found her true passion when she studied Special Education and has taught children with special needs for the last 15 years.  She loved her students and found joy working with them year-round.  I don’t believe she ever took a sick day, and she had an amazing work ethic throughout her life.  She was a loving daughter, wife, and sister, who had the ability to keep her sense of humor even through challenging times.  She will be missed by her friends and family, but there is some peace knowing she is reunited with her daughter and mother.
