Visitation for Arthur Just, 90, of Palatine since 1972, will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 200 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine, Illinois, 60067. The Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights. On Tuesday December 21, 2021, Arthur, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at his home with family at his side, at the age of 90.
Arthur was born November 21, 1931 in Germany and was the beloved husband of Alice Just (nee Zuelke); loving father of Peter Just (Melinda), Connie Engberg (John), and Glen Just (Nancy); loving grandfather of Nathan, Rachel, and Andrew Just, Justin, Joshua, and Joel Engberg, Tobin, Caroline, Camden, and Maren Just; dear son of the late Eduard and Adeline Just (Nee Nautsch); fond brother of the late Oswald Just, the late Erwin Just, baby or little sister Just, Magret Babis the late Reinhold Just, the late Renate Bohnenstengel, Werner Just, Gisela Schiebel, and Monika Jansen.
He immigrated from Germany in March 1957 with his brother Erwin. He and his wife proudly became naturalized US citizens in 1965. He worked at Continental Coffee, and was a skilled machinist at Zenith and Envirotech, completing the final 15 years of his career at Northrop Grumman Corporation. Earning patents with an engineering team He retired at age 65.
Tender hearted, and frequently striking up conversations with strangers, he was always able to laugh and quick to forgive.
He provided for Pete, Connie, and Glen, emphasizing they be involved in their school and pursue opportunity, assuring they had the means to be first generation college graduates in the family.
His greatest joy were his ten grandkids, being willing to wrestle with them and hug the breath out of each of them each time they met and before they departed his presence. He enjoyed dancing, singing, family parties, and annually attending German fests.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister (unnamed), and brothers Oswald, Erwin, Reinhold, sister Renate, and daughter in law Nancy Hertz Just.
