Annie Elkins, 91, passed away peacefully in her home October 11, 2021. Annie leaves behind a large loving family who will miss her everyday. Annie chose to donate her body to science and will be interred at a later date. A celebration of her life will be planned for next April.
Annie lived in Palatine for 64 years where she held many jobs and careers, but, her most important job was opening her home to family and friends who needed a loving place to live. She also opened her home to 18 foster children over the years.
Annie is survived by her children Christine Glascoe, Lorraine (Warren) Bastiani, Deborah (Ted) Sumpter, Victoria (Randy) Anderson and Roger Elkins (Lily and Vincent Lopalazzo); Grandchildren Lisa ( Rick) Simonson, Lee (Elizabeth) Glascoe, Jay Glascoe, Brian ( Shannon) Bastiani, Dana (Scott) Dunkel, Phil (Michelle) Bastiani, Kevin Bastiani, Amy Sumpter, Kelly (Kevin) Shea, Emily (Charles) Newberry, Tom (Clare) Behringer, Katie (Rick Cohen) Behringer, Heidi (Steve) Olenczuk and Lloyd (Erika) Elkins; her great- grandchildren Drew (Emily Rosin) and Avrey Simonson, Henry and Helen Glascoe, Joshua and Rebecca Bastiani, Victoria and Alexander Bastiani, Mocha Dunkel, Declan, Cieran and Moira Shea, Bear and Oona Newberry, Casey Cohen and Devin Thies, Nightmare Behringer, Stefan Olenczuk, Calla Elkins and a host of nieces and nephews she loved with all her heart.
Annie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years Lloyd, Gary Glascoe her son-in-law and William (Willy) Behringer her grandson.
The family would like to thank Annie’s friends Jim and Jackie Sprinkle who were there for her until the end.
