Alma M. Fersch

A Memorial Mass for Alma M. Fersch, 90, of Palatine, will be said at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 26, 2022, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 455 N Benton St, Palatine, IL.  The Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.

Alma was born on November 26, 1931, to Josef and Anna Gehret in Karlstadt, Germany.  She passed away peacefully on Friday, July 29, 2022.

Alma was married to Leo in Germany in 1953 and they came to the US in March of 1957.  She settled in Palatine & was a lifelong resident.  She loved to crochet and made many beautiful blankets for her family and enjoyed being a longtime member of the German Kaffee Klatsch.  Her greatest happiness in life was her family who all called her Omi.

Alma was the loving mother of: Claudia (Gene) Derbick and Ron (Verna) Fersch; loving Omi of: Nicole (Matt) Danielson, Jason (Lindsey) Derbick, Angela (Adam) Horstman, Joseph Fersch and her 5 great-grandchildren, Nolan, Julia, Olivia, Owen, and Cora.  She is also survived by her brother, Hans Gehret and many nieces and nephews.

Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Leo G. Fersch; and her dear sisters, Clara Pickel and Elfriede Kaatz.
